The MINI 1998 GT is the third edition to the GT family. The Mini 1275 GT, introduced in 1969, was created as the successor to the original Cooper S, with its name derived from its 1,275cc engine. Decades later, MINI paid tribute with the 2021 MINI 1499 GT—which was named after its 1,499cc engine and inspired by the design and spirit of the 1275 GT. As the successor to the 1499 GT, the MINI 1998 GT Edition, named after its 1988cc engine, is being released as a special edition MINI Icon Drop, available in limited quantities.
